Allotment competition 2026

This years allotment competition will be judged on 16th July by Graeme and Diane Jeffries. Our judges this year are long term plot holders at Beeches Road, and were recently leading the friends of the Marconi Ponds restoration project in Chelmsford, together with a team of committed enthusiasts.

Graeme who ran his own gardening and landscaping business helped restore and create a peaceful nature / green retreat alongside the main railway line into Chelmsford at the back of the Marconi / E2V teledyne sites, backed by grants from the Chelmsford City Council. This project included cutting back and dealing with all the overgrown areas, brambles, and restoring banks and a pond edging wall which had corroded and fallen away.

The council and Friends of Chelmsford held a community open day marking the revival of the site.

As usual there are two categories - those who have held a plot for less than 18 months, and those over 18 months and the criteria remains the same. The plot(s) must be visibly and clearly marked with your plot Number, and your membership with the Association must be up to date.
