Trading Hut

The Allotment Association can trace a trading hut on site as far back as 1947 and according to notes from Arthur Cornell the original hut may have been constructed as part of the defence efforts during the second world war and then left. There have been two further buildings on site selling products to Association members, although not quite the range of stock that is currently available.
After a period of closure the Trading Hut re opened it’s doors for business in 2004, with the principal aims of supplying various products to Association members, whether full or Associate at a competitive price. Open on Saturdays and Sundays between 10 am and 11 am, the stock and variety of product available has gradually expanded and now covers everything from potting compost, chicken manure pellets, canes in various sizes, wood for construction of raised beds and other, fleece, fabric, gloves, to string, pest control products and bird seed.

Please support the trading hut for all your purchases. Your support is invaluable and helps us fund the now legendary Christmas Mulled Wine and Coffee Morning for members, and also assists us to be reasonably self - sufficient in terms of the site as a whole. Some of the projects that have been delivered on site include the patio area around the cabin, the concrete footings and area for the manure deliveries, plus contribution to the storage shed to top up a grant received. Funds are also directed towards more general maintenance and upkeep on site.

The trading hut also stocks second hand gardening / horticultural tools and equipment, together with many other donated items. Do come and have a browse.
Aside of the benefit of supporting the Allotment Association Trading Hut, it is worth remembering that discounts are available at the following outlets:
GUYS GARDEN MARKET STALL - Chelmsford Market where 10% OFF on presentation of your membership card; plus
GREENVILLE NURSERY - Cow Watering Lane, Writtle, CM1 3SB, where 20% discount available off Trees, Shrubs, Perennials and Grasses (not bedding plants). All on presentation of your membership card, but please check before purchasing.
