Manure and Chippings Bins

12th June 2026

over the last few months considerable work has been put in at the base of the site in relation to the manure and chippings bin. After winter storms part of the original structure had been blown down, and a plan was already in place to replace with a sturdier structure.

The original areas was cut back, strimmed, old pallets, bits of wood and other debris cleared to allow a clear working area before letting Chris loose with the building work.

Chris Perrin drew up the plans, acquired all the equipment, and then re built the manure bin to provide the site and plot users with a sturdy area which should last for years and years without any further intervention. With an initial call for help, and thank you to everyone who replied and offered, Chris took care of the process single handedly and we owe him a massive thank you on behalf of the site.

The structure was paid for using legacy money donated to the association from a couple of previous long standing members, Peter Fox and Arthur Cornell. For some time the committee has been agonising over the best way of utilising the funds given to us, and we eventually decided that this expense, providing something for existing users, and also future users of the site was probably the right step to take.

Following the completion of this project, Pat Tilley kindly re built the chipping area, coated the pallets, and Karen and Tony are going to re cover these pallets with sheeting to provide an extra layer of protection.

On behalf of everyone on site, thank you to Chris and Pat for all the tremendous efforts.
